this is me. Jennifer Keenan Giliberto
Owner of jkeenan photography and the photographer behind the lens of this documentary. My work has been featured over at National Geographic Your Shot, in juried gallery shows, private and institutional collections as well as by the National Brain Tumor Society and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
An only child who grew up in Connecticut, I've lived in the South for half my life. I'm married and have three children. I love food, laughter and need to swear less. I am an adventurous soul, a writer, story teller at heart and a brain tumor patient.
This project has deep roots into my heart and soul.
this is documentary set out to tell the visual journey of a patient with brain cancer. It's chronologically presented to convey the magnitude of the experience. This is not a filtered and sanitized story. Life, real life and the journeys we take are not intended to be sanitized to make you feel better. It is meaningful to view Josh and Jenna's journey as it unfolds; feeling it, processing it and hopefully eventually coming to some understanding of what this journey is for patients and their families.
this is opens the doors, pulls the curtains back and exposes the entirety of the patient experience.
this is brings the viewer face to face with the humanity of medicine and demystifies what is often veiled from public view.
Every journey and story is different; theirs is the story I had the privilege to tell.
Josh and Jenna's journey was raw, real, honest, transparent, emotional and humbling.
I hope Josh and Jenna's story inspires and motivates you to learn more, do more and give more. I hope these images give you pause to think and move you to make a difference.
